Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can help clients to get control over unwanted habits or problems; or to let go of old fears. It enables us to access a part of our mind to effect beneficial changes in many areas of life.

Hypnosis is a naturally occuring state of mind and one we enter involuntarily many times each day. It is that warm relaxed state between sleep and wakefulness; it is what happens when we arrive at a destination after driving a well known road, and can't remember the journey. It is essentially a feeling of relaxation where our subconscious mind is best able to respond creatively to suggestion.

Our mind is made up of two parts. These are called the Conscious Mind and the Unconscious Mind.

The Conscious Mind takes up about 10% of our mind, and is the part we use when we are awake and making decisions. When we are asleep, this part switches off comlpetely.

The Unconscious Mind accounts for the remaining 90% of our daily activities and it never swicthes off. We are frequently unaware of what it does, as we breathe and walk without any conscious awareness of doing so! It is also where our memories are stored along with our emotions, behaviours and habits. It is this part of the mind that can create lasting changes in these areas.

During hypnosis, the resourcefulness of the Unconscious Mind is stimulated and can be encouraged to facilitate lasting changes in patterns of thinking and behaviour. The Conscious Mind remains awake and aware of all that is being said; and you will only take on board suggestions that are in accordance with your views.
